We stopped by Chicago Valor Con in Chicago yesterday to check out this gaming convention on it's opening day. To be clear, this was the opening day for the inaugural year of Valor Con--a new yearly gaming event in the city. And it was good to see that the event is off to a great start.
For it's first year, Valor Con is being held at Block 37--a shopping center and event venue located on State Street in downtown Chicago. It's on the third floor with some nice views of downtown and a sizeable tabletop gaming area:
The event features vendors, game demos, and panel discussions on a variety of topics.
There was a lot of tabletop role playing and board games going on:
As well, there is a section devoted to video gaming. Games include (but are not limted to) Minecraft, Super Smash Brothers, and League of Legends:
Aretemis Bridge Simulator was there, as well, to give you the feel of running a star ship.
You can even get a tutorial in Magic the Gathering from expert tournament host, Jason Long:
Be sure to check out a panel or two, as well.
Valor Con's inaugural event goes through Sunday, October 18th, 2015. It's conveniently located just off the Washington CTA Blue Line stop on the 3rd floor of Block 37, 108 N. State St. Chicago.
